Products: Specialty Rice
The co-products consist of brewers rice, parboiled brokens, rice bran and
Rice hulls. The brewers rice is the smallest broken kernel, they are ¼ or
smaller than the size of whole grain rice. Brewers rice is mainly used as
a carbohydrate source in pet food. Parboiled brokens is an entire stream
of broken kernels (second heads, screenings, and brewers) generated in
milling parboiled rice. The second heads consists of broken kernels or rice,
approximately ½ to ¾ the size of whole grain that is generated in the milling
process. Rice bran is the layer directly beneath the hull, which is removed
by the abrasive action of shelling machines. Rice bran is high in protein
and is largely used in animal feeds. Rice hulls are the outer husks of the
rice grain removed by shelling machines. Ground hulls are used in the animal
feed supplements, in the manufacture of chemicals and plastics or used as fuel.
